Seven units of the Senior model developed for rural use
Marcopolo will supply seven new Senior Charter mini buses to Sertran, a major transportation operator based in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The vehicles will be used on rural lines in the city of Três Lagoas, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and were developed with special items for greater safety and resistance.
In a 9m long version, Sertran Senior mini buses have the capacity to carry 28 passengers, in addition to an assistant driver, in Executive seats and have an accessible transposition device (DTA).
“Supplying Sertran reinforces Marcopolo’s expertise and capacity to develop vehicles suitable for the requirements and needs of each customer”, Luciano Piccirillo Neto emphasizes, Marcopolo São Paulo’s business manager. In 2020, Marcopolo, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, had already provided Sertran with Ideale and Senior multi-use models with a self-locking differential.
About the sector
While the road segment has registered a drop in sales volume due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the charter sector is still booming in 2021. Marcopolo, leader in the bus body sector, with a 52.7% market share, is already showing growth in vehicle sales destined for this purpose. By April, the company will have delivered over 200 units to transport workers in urban areas and in the mining and agribusiness sectors in several states.
Sertran was created in Sertãozinho, in the interior of the State of São Paulo, in 1996, with operations in the collective transport of people, with chartering for the public and private sectors, urban and road concessions. Today it has 19 units and a fleet with over 700 vehicles, including road buses, agricultural buses, mini buses and vans and about 1,600 direct collaborators. The company is responsible for the daily transport of 13,000 collaborators of business groups in the sugar-energy segment, established in four Brazilian states: São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and Tocantins.
