MARCOPOLO AND MERCEDES-BENZ SUPPLY ALMOST 600 NEW RED SYSTEM BUSES IN CHILE

Marcopolo, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, concluded the delivery of 240 new buses for the urban public transport system in the city of Santiago, Red Mobilidad. Metbus and STP operators are already using the vehicles, all of the Torino Low Entry Articulated model, with a MBB 0500 UA Euro 6 chassis.
“With this supply, Marcopolo and Mercedes-Benz complete almost 600 new buses supplied since the end of 2018, which reinforces the leadership of the brands in the Chilean transport system and demonstrates the significant historical participation that Marcopolo has in that country”, José Luis Moraes Goes highlights, Marcopolo’s International Business Executive Manager.
According to the executive, since the system was changed to Red Mobilidad, Marcopolo has already supplied 740 vehicles, 582 units in partnership with Mercedes-Benz. “This supply represents the renewal of over 10% of the total bus fleet, to the amount of 6,600 units”, he highlights.
With 18,600mm in length, capacity for 152 passengers and low floor, the vehicles have a Valeo CC640 air conditioning system, USB ports, a separate new version of the driver´s cab, to ensure even more safety during operation, sealed windows and Upholstered City model seats, providing more comfort for users.
To guarantee total accessibility, the buses have an access ramp to the passenger area and the most modern electronic equipment available, such as communication and audio and video systems, GPS set up, set up for an internal video monitor in the passenger area and speakers.
Torino Low Entry Articulated vehicles incorporate Euro 6 technology, the most advanced for reducing pollutant emissions in diesel engines, with 66% less particulate matter and 80% less NOx than current vehicles in operation.
